About the 708 Board
What is a 708 Board?
Our organization was established under the Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, which allows counties to levy a tax of up to 0.15% of the county’s equalized assessed valuation to fund mental health services.
The Marion County IL 708 Mental Health Board was created in 2000 to oversee the distribution of these funds to local mental health providers and agencies serving our community.
Illinois Law: The Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code authorizes counties to establish 708 boards to collect and distribute dedicated tax funds for local mental health and developmental disability services.
