About the 708 Board

Supporting Mental Health in Marion County

Our organization was established under the Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, which allows counties to levy a tax to fund vital mental health services. The Marion County 708 Mental Health Board was created in 2000 to oversee the distribution of these funds to local providers and agencies.

What is a 708 Board?

A 708 Board is a community mental health board established under Illinois law. It oversees the collection and distribution of dedicated tax funds to support mental health and developmental disability services at the local level, ensuring residents have access to the care they need.

Illinois Law: Counties may levy up to 0.15% of equalized assessed valuation to fund mental health services.
